Standing Room Only!

I must start out by saying, I officially know what it feels like to have [brief] heart failure. OK, maybe only a heart palpatation, but I assure you, it's a frequent occurence for me these days.

First it was sitting, with my fear of Tyler falling backwards and donking his head. Then crawling and my fear of him tumbling down our ONE lonely step. NOW, standing. Who invented tile floors anyway???

Standing, oh, standing. It's at the couch, at the dresser, on the dogs, at his chair, at the coffee table, up against the TV stand, at his highchair, in the bathtub, in his stroller (yes, I just said in his stroller). Practically everywhere he goes, he finds something or someone to stand up with. I've been visited quite a few times in the bathroom, but I'll spare you the details. Just like that, sitting and crawling are a thing of the past and standing has become the new obsession. Every day I am reminded of the fact that he is a boy and 'Boys will be Boys', but I still can't help but to have heart failure when Tyler is standing at the dog's water bowl, playing in the water and then slips on the water that he has managed to fling all over the tile floor. It gets me every time. In any event, he gets back up and does it all over again. True Boy! Which reminds me of the outfit that he was wearing today. The shirt had a moose on it with the words "Rugged & Handsome" across the front. I thought to myself as I dressed him in it, "Is this not the most fitting outfit ever?" Not to mention the fact that it is blue & brown. I think it just became one of my favorites.

We're another rung up on the development ladder and learning every step of the way. What a pleasure! And so it goes...

Like Father, Like Son

We've all heard it: "I see Mommy" or "I see so much of Daddy" or the ever so common: "He looks just like you", but, seriously, is this one a clone?

Since Day 1 of Tyler's life [literally Day 1, since Kim brought David's newborn picture with her to the hospital] everyone has always said how much he resembled David. I thought he looked nothing like me, mostly due to the fact that he was born with a head full of hair. I was just the complete opposite, as I did not "sprout" any hair until after I was a year old. And, when I say "sprout" there is no exaggeration. Now that he is 10 months old, I thought I might be gaining some credit to birthing him [not to mention the 9 months I carried him around] because I thought maybe, just maybe, he has my eyes. Well, not so much. He may have received the light eyes from me, as mine are a shade lighter than David's, but as I rummaged through David's baby pictures, I learned that he had big baby blues too! He is a spitting image of his father, even down to his toes! [Aunt Steph & Aunt Leah know exactly what I'm talking about]. Recently, I was told that his mouth is the same as my niece, Madison's. I was almost convinced of this until, again, I saw his baby pictures. Same smile, same eyes, same nose, same head of hair, and from what I've been told, same temperament. So, what does all of this boil down to? Well, of course it means that he's going to go from being the cutest baby on earth to being quite a handsome man! *wink*wink*

The proof is in the pudding, therefore, here are a few pictures for you to enjoy, courtesy of Great Grandma and Great Grandpa Carlson. Thank you! If you click on the pictures, they enlarge so that you can see them better. And so it goes...

Ten Month Milestones

Height: 30" (hasn't gotten any taller in the last month)
Weight: 22lbs 4oz

Places Traveled: Went to Busch Gardens, which you read about in a previous post, for his first encounter with the animal kingdom.

Accomplishments: Crawling is now second nature to him, as I think he just may crawl faster than I walk. We have 1 step in our home, which no longer poses any threat to Tyler. Up and down, it's all a breeze now, although it was intimidating to him at first. He is pulling himself up more and more now, giving me heart failure each and every time he does. Three new teeth entered Tyler's world this month, for a total of 6 teeth. On to bigger and better snacks these days as Tyler is also now self-feeding. He's still a little rough around the edges when it comes to self-feeding, BUT, eventually he figures out a way to make the hand-to-mouth connection. I've introduced the sippy cup, but he's still uncertain about tilting it up to get a drink. So cute, though. Lastly, Tyler had his first real haircut during this month, which you previously read about.

New Babbles: It's so funny how spontaneous and "out of nowhere" that these words come out, but they do. Tyler's new favorite saying: "Es Sat" which we believe to be "What's That?" And yes, everything, I mean everything, is "Es Sat". I'll have to post a video. It's a riot!

New Discoveries: FOOD! Not that this is a new discovery, but he has certainly broadened his intake. He is now at the stage, if you're eating, he would like to try it. And still, not a food out there has fallen into the dislike category. The mesh teether also allows me to give Tyler things that would normally be considered risky, so he's tried more than his fair share of "people food".
