For the past few weeks, David has been calling me to report this "song" on the radio and every time that I tuned into the station, the song was over or just about to be. I could never quite catch it......until a few days ago. After listening to it (and bawling my eyes out) I had to hear it again. David very rarely gets emotionally attached to a song, and when he does, I know it's a good one. This particular song, "Anything Like Me" is about a Father-Son relationship and I swear it could be based on David & Tyler's relationship. It really hits home. The last verse really gets me going as I know that day will come sooner than I want it to. And, I'm sure when that day does come, I'll be thinking about this song and crying then, too! Of course, I had to go buy the CD so I could hear it on demand.
Brad Paisley is an incredible artist and performer, who also sings another song about a Father-Son relationship, "He Didn't Have to Be", that is a snapshot of David & his Father's relationship. So, needless to say, Brad is one of our favorites and is featured in our wedding video. It's songs like these, that touch the heart, that really make me appreciate country music artists.
Enjoy! (& try not to cry if you have a Son!) And so it goes...

2T
Like the blink of an eye, it seems our "baby" has gone from newborn, to infant, and now, officially a 2-year-old toddler. To kick off Tyler's 2nd Birthday, we took him to have his photos taken on Friday, September 3. He did wonderfully, smiling for the camera with his big, infectious smile. Some shots took a little persuasion with a ball or truck, but in the end, we are thrilled with the end results and love how they turned out! Our handsome little 2-year-old. We celebrated Tyler's 2nd Birthday, which was Sept. 6, on Sunday, the 5th. We decided to do a small gathering at my Parents' house, since they have the pool, which is a necessity in this summer heat. When it comes to our families, "small gathering" is the equivalent to about 75 people. Add close friends to that, and the list instantly becomes 100. Seeing how we just brought Tyler's Little Sister, Riley, into the world less than 2 weeks prior to his Birthday, it was easier to do it at my Parent's house anyway. As usual, we had a great time BBQ'ing and hanging by the pool. We were so blessed to be joined by so many to help make Tyler's 2nd Birthday a success and make memories that will last a lifetime. The best part of it all was to see the family (& friend's families) expanding. There were so many young ones there to share in the fun, I can see the years to come will be so much fun with all of them!

Monday, on Tyler's actual Birthday, we celebrated by taking Tyler to Jaxson's Ice Cream Parlor for his first time. For those who have never been there, it's an old ice cream parlor / restaurant that was established in the '50s, that is famous for their delicious homemade ice cream. Not much has changed since it opened, as it is filled with antiques and the servers wear fifties-style outfits. Tyler had his own sundae, that came equipped with a sparkler candle and the staff singing 'happy birthday' to Tyler. He ate the whole thing and then moved on to share Daddy's with him. We had a great time!

Lastly, Tyler went for his 2-Year check up with his Pediatrician. We are happy to report that he is right on track for his development. As for his size, well.....that's another story that we're all well aware of. He's ahead of the game in that department, as his stats are:
Height: 36" (3'), which is the 85th percentile for his age.
Weight: 30lbs, which is the 90th percentile for his age.
OUR BIG BOY!!!!!! Something tells me that the 24-month clothing that he is currently wearing, will soon be traded for 2T. And so it goes...
